The Bushwick Book Club Seattle and Seattle Folklore Society collaborate for a special evening of music inspired by books! Since 2010, Bushwick has staged monthly concerts featuring local musicians sharing new works inspired by the written word, and the October 2026 show comes to Phinney featuring the beloved 1971 title "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" by Robert C. O'Brien.
Performances from: Bryan John Appleby, Mitchell Beck, Kate Berreth, Kelli Frances Corrado, Victoria "Toya" Fragoso, Erika Lundahl, Michael Owcharuk, Polybanderous, Jade Teather, Mike Votava, and Michael Wallenfels. (Lineup subject to additions/changes.)
Mrs. Frisby is a widowed field mouse with a sick child and an impossible deadline: move before the spring plowing, or the child will face certain death. Fortunately, she's got some truly incredible neighbors. The extraordinarily intelligent rats of NIMH, who escaped a government laboratory and are building a civilization of their own, take her plight as their own and illustrate the profound power of asking for help.
Thanks to Bushwick's accessible ticketing initiatives, tickets are $20 in advance, $15 for SFS/PNA/Bushwick members, and free for all attendees 22 and under; $5 more at-the-door, free/reduced options available (supported by 4 Culture). Event is in the Phinney Community Hall (Brick Building), down the hill from the main PNA Center on Phinney Ave. Parking in lot accessed from N 67th St.
