The city of Anoka organized its first Halloween Festival in 1920 as a response to youthful shenanigans every October. As the earliest known organized festival celebrating Halloween, Anoka is the Halloween Capital of the World and, with the exception of 1942, the city has hosted a festival every year since 1920.

ACHS hosted the first Ghosts of Anoka Walking Tour during the Anoka RiverFest celebrations on July 10, 2004. The two tours given that night were so popular, the historical society brought them back for Anoka’s October festivities and every year since. Join in this ongoing Anoka Halloween tradition!
