Rock on Kendal, supported by Macbeth Scott & Co. Insurance Brokers and Financial Advisers, presents Jake Morley and Amy Jo for a very special evening of LIVE, ORIGINAL Music!
This event takes place in the Old Laundry Theatre. Doors open at 7pm. Running order: Amy Jo Clough starts the evening followed by an interval before Jake Morley takes the stage. We estimate the running time to be around 140 minutes with a finish time of just before 10 pm.
Jake Morley is a singer-songwriter from London, England, known for distinctive lyrics and implausible guitar playing. His third studio album ‘Some Things Are Like Other Things’ was released on 28th October 2022. His 2012’s debut album Many Fish to Fry led to a residency at Ronnie Scott’s, headline tours across the UK, Europe and Canada, airplay across BBC Radio and live performances on national television. 2016’s follow-up The Manual, richly layered with strings and choirs, has also attracted millions of streams. Along the way he’s had a shred-off with Punch Brothers, swapped late night songs with Michael Kiwanuka, broken Jack Garratt’s amp, and opened shows for They Might be Giants, Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner and Joe Bonamassa.
Amy Jo in her own words is “Just your northern girl next door writing about all the feels”. A Morecambe Bay singer/songwriter who sounds like a Nashville-era Taylor Swift and a singer whose capabilities and lyrical sophistication belie her 25 years, Amy Jo writes songs straight from the heart. Amy Jo has been co-writing with John Beck (Corinne Bailey Rae, Tasmin Archer), Tim Hutton (Ian Brown, Prodigy), and Grant Black (Van Morrison, Craig David, Run DMC, Sarah Brightman, Olly Murs). 2022 has been a busy year for Amy Jo, with performing highlights including an acoustic set at HMV in High Wycombe, a set at Lancaster’s Highest Point festival, supporting The Christians on their tour and at KOKO in Camden alongside artists such as RAYE and Rodney Jerkins (aka Darkchild), to an audience that included (Andrew) The Lord Lloyd-Webber and lyricist Don Black (Donald Blackstone OBE)! On the recording side, producers Julian Hinton (Rod Stewart, Trevor Horn, Robbie Williams, Rumer) and Simon Bloor (Seal, Birdy, Will Heard) have taken Amy Jo’s delightful musings to the next level. Amy Jo recorded at Sony Music UK and released her first single ‘Coming Close’ from her upcoming EP ‘Songs from the Bay’.
