Dr. Robert Poovey will perform on the Beckerath organ (Gallery) and Kimball organ (Chancel) in a program featuring the music of Nikolaus Bruhns (1665-1697), Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), Anton Heiller (1923-1979), Leo Sowerby (1895-1968) and Cèsar Franck (1822-1890).

A native of Greensboro North Carolina he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in organ from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Southern Methodist University respectively. From 1995 to 2006 he served as Director of Music Ministries at historic St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta where he developed an innovative music program involving seven groups.
Dr. Poovey has had an active performing schedule and he maintains membership in the Association of Anglican Musicians the American Guild of Organists and Early Music America.
