Larry Stone became the ninth Master Sommelier in the United States and soon won the Grand Prix de Sopexa in Paris as the first American Best International Sommelier in French Wines. His early career was anchored in Chicago, where he helped open the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and served as General Manager and Sommelier at the legendary Charlie Trotter’s Restaurant from 1989 to 1993, helping elevate it to global acclaim.
In 2012, Stone acquired a prime 66-acre parcel in Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills and created Lingua Franca Estate, completed in 2016. The winery reflects his vision of precision and place, with Dominique Lafon as consulting winemaker.
