« Père, vous ne pouvez vous imaginer la beauté du son de la clarinette ! » écrivait Mozart à son père, Leopold, en 1778 après avoir assisté à un concert de l’orchestre de Mannheim. Cet ensemble était alors l’un des premiers à avoir intégré à son pupitre de bois cet instrument relativement récent, et encore peu exploité. Séduit par la sonorité et le potentiel expressif de la clarinette, Mozart lui dédie quelques une de ses plus belles œuvres, dont le poignant 'Concerto pour clarinette et orchestre en la majeur KV 622' qu’il compose quelques semaines avant sa mort, en 1791. Interprété par le brillant clarinettiste italien Kevin Spagnolo, premier prix du Concours de Genève en 2018, avec l’Orchestre de la Suisse romande, dirigé par le jeune chef suisse Marc Leroy-Calatayud, ce concerto sera entouré par deux autres œuvres phares de Mozart: sa célèbre 'Petite musique de Nuit' et sa tragique et tempêtueuse '25e Symphonie' composée peu avant ses 18 ans. Un programme comme Mozart: poétique, pétillant et dramatique.

“Father, you can’t imagine the beauty of the sound of the clarinet”, Mozart wrote to his father, Leopold, in 1778 after attending a concert by the Mannheim orchestra. At the time, the ensemble was one of the first to include this relatively new and little-known instrument in its woodwind section. Seduced by the sound and expressive potential of the clarinet, Mozart dedicated some of his finest works to it, including the poignant 'Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A major KV 622', which he composed a few weeks before his death in 1791. Performed by the brilliant Italian clarinettist Kevin Spagnolo, first prize winner of the Geneva Competition in 2018, with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, conducted by young Swiss conductor Marc Leroy-Calatayud, this concerto will also feature two of Mozart’s other landmark works: the famous 'Little Night Music' and the tragic and tempestuous '25th Symphony', which he composed shortly before he turned 18. A programme just like Mozart: poetic, brilliant, and dramatic.
