From the warm, searching melodies of Samuel Barber’s First Essay for Orchestra to the dreamy shimmer of Charles T. Griffes’ "The White Peacock," and the sweeping, cinematic atmosphere of Jason Polychronakos’s "Where the Sun Sets," the evening builds to the powerful, heart-stirring drama of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7.
