The program opens with the fierce defiance of Ethel Smyth’s Overture to The Wreckers, the searching intensity of Emilie Mayer’s Faust-Ouverture, and the vibrant energy of Adrienne Albert’s Western Suite. The journey culminates in Tchaikovsky’s profoundly moving Symphony No. 6 “Pathétique," a work that shifts from soaring triumph to aching vulnerability in one of the most unforgettable conclusions in classical music.
