Join the City of St. Thomas on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, as we come together downtown to recognize Orange Shirt Day / National Day for Truth and Reconciliation through an afternoon of reflection, learning, and community connection.
This annual gathering has continued to grow each year, bringing community members together to honour residential school survivors, their families, those who never returned home, and Indigenous communities. Through storytelling, cultural experiences, education, and connection, the event provides an opportunity for everyone to listen, learn, and reflect on the ongoing journey of truth and reconciliation.
📍 Location: Downtown St. Thomas
Activities will take place at City Hall, St. Thomas Public Library, and Westlake-Evans Park, all within easy walking distance of one another.
🕛 Event Schedule:
12:00 p.m. – Flag Raising and Opening Remarks at City Hall
12:30 p.m. – Community Gathering at St. Thomas Public Library & Westlake-Evans Park
Join us for an afternoon featuring:
• Indigenous cultural performances
• Guest speakers and knowledge sharing
• Educational displays and community organizations
• Indigenous artisans and vendors
• Free lunch (while supplies last)
• Additional activities and learning opportunities
Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the afternoon’s activities in the park.
This event is free and open to everyone. We encourage attendees to wear orange as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and support for Survivors, their families, and communities impacted by the residential school system.
