About this Event

It is well known that people experiencing severe mental ill health face lives restricted and shortened by conditions like diabetes and heart disease. However, less well recognised, they also experience serious inequalities in oral health, with high rates of tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss. Members of our group developed (with CTG Collaboration funding) The Right To Smile consensus statement to highlight these inequalities and the urgent need for a far more whole-person approach. This event will bring together dentists, mental health professionals, primary care clinicians, people with lived experience, researchers, commissioners and key NHSE/I programme managers to collaborate with a view to improve practice.
