What to expect

Opn Tble is a creative artist-focused supper club. GACO are a Glasgow-based Queer sonic improvisation group. Come together for an evening of food, chats, and sonic jams.

This month's Opn Tble supper club is going to be a little different. For the first time we are collaborating with GACO, Glasgow’s own Queer sonic improvisation collective, to bring you a supper club with a focus on artists working with sound, noise, music, sonic art, vocal performance, and artists that engage with audiovisual or digital elements. Everyone is welcome, we would just like to particularly encourage artists and creatives to come along who bring a sonic element to their work. The evening will involve an improvised jam, but people are encouraged to bring their own work to discuss, especially if it involves elements of sound art at any capacity.

Created and hosted by Seán Talbot and Sophia Archontis, Opn Tble is a place for self identifying artists and creative folk who are looking to share their works in progress, develop their practice, get inspired, or simply have some nice creative chats over some food. This is an open and relaxed space, and an intimate dinner party. Everyone is welcome at Opn Tble. We want there to be no imposition or application to attend. We are interested in creating a welcoming environment. All disciplines and kinds of artform are welcome, whether it be professional or academic, or a hobby or passion project.

GACO is a queer-led sonic improvisation group. We aim to create a space where members of our QTIPOC+ community can come together and experience safety, stillness and connection through sound-making processes. As such, everyone is invited to join regardless of their level of experience with music/improvisation. Instruments are provided during our sessions, although we also invite folk to bring their own instruments to the space if they wish to do so.

All food will be vegan and nut-free, if you have any other requirements let us know and we will try our best to accommodate needs. Please let us know if you have any allergens. To cover the costs we are just asking for Pay What You Can sliding scale donations of £12/10/7/5/0, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Also this event is BYOB.

The venue is Neighbourhood Shop on 8 Skirving street, Shawlands, Glasgow, G41 3AA.

Accessibility information: The venue has a very short step at the doorway to entry and then is one level. The space is not very large. The bathroom facilities are down a steep narrow staircase and not disability-friendly. The event will be low-lighting with quiet music. Wrap up warmly as it is a fairly chilly building.

Lastly please let us know if you would prefer not to be photographed for our documentation.
