About this Event

“Operation Lifesaver” - FREE Rail Safety Presentation

Two METRA Commuter Rail Service Lines run through New Lenox; the Rock Island District (RI) to Joliet and the SouthWest Service (SWS) to Manhattan. Although we see METRA trains all the time, do we REALLY know how they operate? Please join us for an informative presentation on rail safety by METRA safety personnel on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.

METRA, in conjunction with the State of Illinois Operation Lifesaver Program, offers this FREE training throughout their service areas. This event is being hosted by the Village of New Lenox, and the New Lenox Safe Community Coalition, in partnership with METRA.

Operation Lifesaver is a program designed to promote railroad safety and awareness for children and adults of all ages. Even professional drivers can benefit from the topics that will be discussed during this 60-minute presentation. Additional information regarding Illinois Operation Lifesaver is available at the Illinois Commerce Commission web site via this link: https://www.icc.illinois.gov/ilol/

Additional questions regarding this training may be directed to Daniel Martin, Safe Community Coordinator, Village of New Lenox - [email protected] or (815) 462-6493.
