First presented at Wexford Festival Opera’s 73rd season as part of Dane Suarez’s international debut, this program weaves together stirring classics and poignant contemporary works. He is again joined by collaborator Nate Ben-Horin on piano.From the sweeping melodies of Rachmaninoff and Tosti to the heart-wrenching drama of Verdi, Barber, and Puccini, the recital captures the full emotional spectrum of the human experience. Highlights include the timeless “Nessun dorma” and the soul-stirring “Bring Him Home” from Les Misérables, the American premiere of arrangements by Griffin Candey (“The Whitby Lad”) and Joel Balzun (“O Danny Boy”), and reflect on sacrifice and honor with John Kander’s A Letter from Sullivan Ballou.
