Northcoast Preparatory Academy is excited to bring you another night of Opera Together with members of the San Francisco Opera Guild on Sunday, October 13th, at the Arkley Center in Eureka (412 G St, Eureka). Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 7:00 p.m. This performance is free and open to the public, with opportunities to donate at the door and online: https://my.cheddarup.com/c/opera-together-donation. All donations will go to supporting the cost of bringing the program to Humboldt County. “The arrival of singers from the SF Opera provides a rare opportunity for our students to work with and be coached by these professional performers,” says NPA co-founder, Jean Bazemore. “NPA is the only public school north of the Bay Area where these singers have been coming since 2000 and we are always delighted to welcome them. As Plato confessed, ‘Education in music is most sovereign, because more than anything else, rhythm and harmony find their way into the secret places of the soul.’”
NPA has been hosting Opera Together for over two decades and is delighted to partner in this outreach program of the San Francisco Opera Guild. This year, the mini-opera on tour is La Cenerentola, by Gioachino Rossini, a variation of Cinderella. Members of the Guild will perform with NPA high school students who have memorized their lines and music in advance to create a memorable experience for the community.
