Orfeo ed Euridice is an immersive opera experience in and around Crowder Hall, bringing audiences into Gluck’s powerful retelling of the myth of Orpheus and Euridice.
With music by Christoph Willibald Gluck and libretto by Ranieri de’ Calzabigi, the opera follows Orfeo as he mourns the loss of his beloved Euridice and descends into the underworld in the hope of bringing her back to life. Guided by love and sustained by the power of music, Orfeo is given the chance to return with Euridice, on the condition that he must not look back at her until they have reached the world above.
A moving story of grief, devotion, and human longing, Orfeo ed Euridice remains one of opera’s most enduring works and we’re so honored to be able to bring it to you.
Performances:
Thursday, November 19 at 7 p.m.
Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m.
Saturday, November 21 at 7 p.m.
Sunday, November 22 at 3 p.m.
