Oxford Opera are back at MOX this February Half Term. Join in this all-day workshop to recreate Gilbert and Sullivan’s "HMS Pinafore".
About this Event

Oxford Opera Company are once again sailing into MOX and heading for the high seas, but this time we’re leaving the pirate crew and joining the navy with Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera HMS Pinafore. Come along with us on our perilous sea adventure exploring the hilarious story and witty music. The day will be filled with music, drama, fun and laughter and will end with a sharing for families of our unique version of this timeless classic. As with all our workshops, it is suitable for those honing their music or performance skills, as well as those looking to explore music and performing for the first time.

Are you ready to splice the mainsail…scrub the decks and hopefully avoid walking the plank?! The press gang is out, and we want all musical adventurers to come along with us on this maiden voyage of HMS Pinafore with Oxford Opera!

Suitable for Children aged 8-12.

This workshop runs from 10.30am – 4.00pm.

Children will register at 10.30am and then parents or carers can return to see what we have created at 3.40pm

Please can all children bring a refillable water bottle, a nut free packed lunch and plenty of nut free snacks for the day. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in easily. Please let us know about any allergies or medical conditions which you think we need to be aware of: you can share this information in the form that will appear after your booking is complete, or by emailing [email protected]

Tickets cost £40 per child for the day and can be purchased online via Eventbrite (booking fee applies) or at the Museum Shop. Tickets for this event also include access to our Galleries for one adult and one child.

We recommend booking in advance to secure your place. Sales from tickets help support our work to deliver fun and accessible family activities, community engagement projects, schools’ workshops, exhibitions and special events for Oxford’s people in our Museum spaces.
