Opera Edwardsville’s beloved holiday tradition returns to the historic Wildey Theatre with two of the most celebrated artists in classical music: Grammy Award–winning soprano Christine Brewer and Grammy Award–winning pianist Craig Terry. This festive evening promises world-class artistry, holiday cheer, and joyful community spirit.
The Artists:
Christine Brewer, a native of Lebanon, Illinois, is a local hero of the arts, a steadfast advocate for music education in our region, and serves as Opera Edwardsville’s Artistic Advisor. Her radiant voice has filled the great halls of the world—from the Metropolitan Opera to London’s Royal Opera House. The New York Times has praised her “glorious, heart-stopping voice,” while BBC Music hails her as “one of the great sopranos of our time.”
Joining her is the extraordinary Craig Terry, Music Director of the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago. A versatile and dynamic pianist, Terry has collaborated with today’s leading vocalists, including Joyce DiDonato and Patricia Racette, and recently became Artistic Director of Opera Theatre of St. Louis. His performances bring both elegance and flair to the stage.
State-of-the-art amplification by Chicago’s Aphorism Studios, led by renowned audio engineer Dan Nichols, named Chicago Tribune’s “Person of the Year in Classical Music” for his pioneering digital collaborations.
