This February, the Vancouver Public Library and Vancouver Opera are presenting the second instalment of a new event series that celebrates the power of the human voice.
Learn all about the upcoming Vancouver Opera production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with an evening of tantalizing performances and presentations by the artists and experts who make our local opera scene come to life.
This one hour programme of music and conversation will explore the life and musical influences of Benjamin Britten, composer of the opera A Midsummer Night's Dream. We will be tackling ideas both serious and...perhaps less serious!
Questions such as: who is the more mischievous composer, Benjamin Britten or Henry Purcell? Why does Britten like fairies so much? Church??? Like any good opera, this musical programme will feature at least one touch of melancholic tragedy and two, perhaps three high notes from a tenor.
Join us by the Grand Staircase on Level 8 of the Central Library, to experience this live opera performance.

Please note: registration is not required to attend this performance, but it helps us anticipate the audience size and to send you updates about the event, as needed.
