Shattered - Jennifer Wagner

Doba Afolabi, Nigerian born, credits his dancer mother, as the fundamental force behind his flair for expression. Studying at the famous Zaria Art School known for their experimental style and bold color palette. Amy Bandel draws and paints to stay calm and grounded. “I find art is a way to connect with the people, places, and things that I love.” Mitzi Bernard’s detailed colleges of controversial paper cutout highlight the power, strength and incredible beauty of women. Joanathan Bessaci use of layering maps as a medium suggests “a path drawn between the past and future, connecting memories to dreams.” Holly Boruck’s art making practice displays a deep interest in the human psyche and earthly experiences through various mediums. Ram Brisueno’s mixed media college’s create narratives that relate to personal identity and social perceptions. William Buchanan’s nature paintings are influenced by his surroundings, he sees rhythms, repetitions, designs, and patterns. F. Lennox Campello for the last few years has drawn on reclaimed, broken, unfired Bisque, where he tells and retells stories, or expresses ideas through the means of contemporary realism. Sheryll Cashin’s collages are made as an act of self-care, she surrounds Black women in nature and imagines them being healed as a form of resistance Photographer, Diane Dompka, says her joy is capturing the spirit and beauty of the subject and the emotional bond of preserving the image. Cheryl Elmo’s watercolors give the medium a new visual quality focusing on human connection. Sofia Gawer uses recycled materials in her art to showcase her deep love of nature, memories, and emotions, fueling her care for the planet. David Hubbard picked up painting again after 30 years and is exploring themes of psychology and sociology in his acrylic paintings. Mihira Karra, a fabric collage artist who started sketching and using pastels as a child, realized her passion for portraiture and figurative art. Michela Mansuino’s imaginative contemporary realist oil paintings invite the audience to experience her subjects in ways that are uniquely their own. Carol Newmyer known for her fluid bronze sculpture, takes to collage for her political art. Gavin Sewell’s mysterious, novelistic mixed-media collages are intuitive, expressionist paintings that seize the anonymous debris of contemporary life. Helen Silberminz returning to art after retiring, involving herself at the Smithsonian and engaging in charcoal drawings. Paula Stern’s busts, groupings and figures echo her deep appreciation of the beauty and complexity of human physiognomy. Bradley Stevens has forged a reputation as one of America’s leading contemporary realist painters boldly expressing modernity through his use of paint and his penetrating eye. Marcie Wolf-Hubbard response to her quiet observation of the world around her connects her to the subjects in her mixed media charcoal encaustic drawings. Curtis Woody’s mixed media quilt paintings are thought-provoking vintage collages work that strikes the balance between spontaneity and a carefully planned composition of historical relevance. Luther Wright’s multidisciplinary approach and his passion for creating wall murals is to bring people together, spark conversations, and inspire positive change.
