The Lyon College Kresge Gallery will host “Tic-Tac-Toe,” a solo exhibition by artist Rachel Livedalen, from Nov. 17 through Jan. 9. The public is invited to an opening reception on Monday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. An artist talk will take place at 5:30 p.m. during the reception in the gallery.
Livedalen’s creative practice explores representations of femininity through the lenses of art history and visual culture. Her work draws on layered imagery, printmaking, and mixed media to examine how identity is shaped, performed, and perceived.
Livedalen earned her Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Iowa and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. She currently serves as an associate professor at Texas Christian University, where she heads the printmaking area. Her work has been supported by residencies with the Kala Art Institute, Virginia Creative Center for the Arts, and A&H Museums–Maitland, as well as by the art installation program of the historic Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia.
Her work is included in the collections of the Mulvane Art Museum, the Bradbury Art Museum, Soho House Austin, and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She is represented by Erin Cluley Gallery in Dallas and Ivester Contemporary in Austin. Livedalen lives and works in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Kresge Gallery is located in the historic Alphin Building on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
