SKEIP
Solo exhibition by Norbert Filep
Sector 1 Gallery invites you to the opening of SKEIP, a solo exhibition by Norbert Filep, on Saturday, 17 October, from 6 PM.
Working across drawing, painting and installation, Norbert Filep explores the structures through which images are constructed, translated and perceived. His practice brings together geometric systems, repetition and meticulous processes of mark-making to investigate the relationship between abstraction, digital imagery and the ways we understand the world around us.
We look forward to seeing you!

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Norbert Filep (b. 1990) is a Romanian artist based in Cluj-Napoca. Working across drawing, painting and installation, his practice explores the possibilities of abstraction and the systems through which visual information is constructed and perceived. Drawing on geometric structures, patterns and methods borrowed from fields such as architecture, technical drawing and physics, Filep investigates the relationship between analogue processes and digital imagery. Through precise, often labour-intensive approaches to mark-making, his work engages with broader social, geopolitical and philosophical questions.
He holds a BA in Graphics (2013), an MA in Painting (2015) and a PhD (2024) from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. His work has been presented at major Romanian institutions and independent art spaces, including the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), the Museum of Recent Art (MARe) and Art Encounters Foundation, as well as internationally at venues such as CFHILL in Stockholm, Marra/Nosco Gallery in Brussels and Mie Lefever Gallery in Ghent.
