Barcelona, April 2026. — BiblioMusiCineteca presents the exhibition “Imagination and Activism: The Art of Andrea Arroyo and Felipe Galindo Feggo, Two Mexican New Yorkers” bringing together works by two prominent Mexican artists based in New York.

The exhibition will be open to the public from May 13 to June 2, 2026. The opening reception will take place on Wednesday, May 6, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Andrea Arroyo and Felipe Galindo Feggo approach contemporary social issues from distinct artistic languages, addressing themes such as human rights, migration, racism, gun violence, international conflicts, and the environmental crisis.

Their work embodies a practice of artistic activism that, without renouncing the poetic power of visual expression, seeks to raise awareness and foster critical reflection on the challenges of our time.

Andrea Arroyo’s work, lyrical and symbolic in nature, emphasizes universal values such as love, justice, equality, and peace. Felipe Galindo Feggo, on the other hand, uses humor and irony as tools to question contemporary reality, invite viewers to adopt a critical perspective, and celebrate humor across a wide range of topics.

The works on display have been published in international media such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Manhattan Times, The Nation, and Le Monde, and have received numerous awards.

About the Artists:

Andrea Arroyo is an artist working in drawing, painting, public art, and activism. Her work is exhibited and published internationally and is part of collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan.

She has received numerous recognitions from institutions such as the New York Women’s Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the United Nations, and Creative Rebuild New York, as well as the Global Citizen Award Artist from the Clinton Global Initiative. She has also been honored at the Havana International Biennial and by organizations such as the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, Puffin Foundation, Harlem Arts Alliance, Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Her work has appeared on the cover of The New Yorker and has been published in media including The New York Times, The Nation, Ms. Magazine, The Manhattan Times, and Le Monde. Her book ImagiNATIONS: Art as Solidarity received the gold medal for “Best Art Book” at the International Latino Book Awards.

Felipe Galindo Feggo is a visual artist trained at ENAP-UNAM in Mexico. His humor-driven work spans cartooning, illustration, animation, collage, and public art. His work has been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Mad, Nickelodeon, MTV, and The Nation, as well as in media outlets in France, England, Italy, and Mexico.

He has an extensive exhibition history and has received numerous awards, including the Gabriel Vargas Prize from Mexico’s Ministry of Culture, as well as recognitions in the United Nations, the United States, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, Italy, and Japan.

He is the author of books such as Manhatitlán: Mexican and American Cultures Intertwined, Cats Will Be Cats, Taking Liberties, and the graphic novel Ellis Island (Macmillan, 2025). His public artwork includes the permanent stained-glass installation Magical Realism in Kingsbridge, located in the New York City subway system.

La BiblioMusiCineteca presenta la exposición Imaginación y Activismo: El arte de Andrea Arroyo y Felipe Galindo Feggo, Two Mexican New Yorkers, que reúne obra de dos destacados artistas mexicanos radicados en Nueva York.

La muestra estará abierta al público del 13 de mayo al 2 de junio de 2026. La inauguración se celebrará el miércoles 13 de mayo, de 19-21horas, y con música de Dj Roberta.

Andrea Arroyo y Felipe Galindo Feggo abordan, desde lenguajes distintos, temas sociales contemporáneos como los derechos humanos, la migración, el racismo, la violencia armada, los conflictos internacionales y la crisis medioambiental. Su obra articula una práctica de activismo artístico que, sin renunciar a la fuerza poética de lo visual, busca generar conciencia y fomentar la reflexión crítica sobre los desafíos de nuestro tiempo.

El trabajo de Andrea Arroyo, de carácter lírico y simbólico, enfatiza valores universales como el amor, la justicia, la igualdad y la paz. Por su parte, Felipe Galindo Feggo recurre al humor y la ironía como herramientas para cuestionar la realidad contemporánea, invitar al espectador a adoptar una mirada crítica y celebrar el poder del humor frente a diversas problemáticas.

Cuenta con una amplia trayectoria expositiva y ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos, entre ellos el Premio Gabriel Vargas de la Secretaría de Cultura de México, además de premios en Naciones Unidas y en países como Estados Unidos, México, Polonia, Portugal, Turquía, Grecia, Bélgica, Italia y Japón.

Es autor de libros como Manhatitlan: Culturas mexicana y estadounidense entrelazadas, Cats Will Be Cats, Taking Liberties y la novela gráfica Ellis Island (Macmillan, 2025). Su obra pública incluye el vitral permanente Realismo Mágico en Kingsbridge, ubicado en el metro de Nueva York.

Sota el títol Imaginació i activisme, la mostra explora el diàleg entre art i compromís social a través de llenguatges visuals potents, crítics i plens de sensibilitat.

Les seves obres aborden temes com la identitat, la migració, els drets humans i la justícia social, convidant el públic a reflexionar des d’una mirada contemporània i compromesa.

La inauguració comptarà amb música en viu a càrrec de DJ Roberta.
