KINDRED
Gathering at the intersection of mindfulness and the arts. Together, we engage with and explore contemplative creativity, using the act of creation as our anchor toward greater stillness and connection. By creating the circumstances for creative rest and kindred connection, we make a way for the divinity of life to shine through. As a community, we create the chance to inspire more love, compassion, and peace in ourselves, in each other, and in the world.
About this event
Joy is a radical act, as is mindfulness. And in the midst of this dark winter we hope you will join us as we banish the darkness and hold a warm space with music for collective contemplation and breath. For us, this musical practice is truly a radical joy––and, perhaps, even the reason we are alive. This “why” feels especially important in this moment, and at this Kindred we come open to possibility, ready to share what’s on our minds and in our hearts. So come be alive with us! Expect some poetry, a couple songs, plenty of laughter, and improvisation as accompaniment for moments of meditation practice and healing. Please feel free to set an intention for your practice throughout the evening, and/or to offer your practice to a loved one, someone in need of support, even an enemy…! We’re looking forward to sharing this time with you! –– Clara & Raphaella
Clara Rose and Raphaella Hero blend two unique voices into an inseparable whole in their revealing delivery of original music, traditional folk melodies, and improvisation. Their music represents a way of being together with presence, patience, compassion, embodiment, playfulness, and curiosity—elements that are central to the spirit of improvisation which characterizes their musical partnership. With every performance, they offer an invitation to simply be, holding space for healing not only in contemplation but in celebration. To put down what you carry, enter the present moment, and open yourself to joy in the safe embrace of acoustic sound, creative mastery, and grace.
In the spring of last year, Clara and Raphaella came to Kindred and improvised together as a way of holding space for community meditation. The experience was so profound for them that they were inspired to forge a more long term musical partnership, and since then the duo has performed and worked together extensively to build deep musical trust and repertoire. To close out a cozy winter tour throughout the Northeast, Clara and Raphaella will return to the Kindred community on February 2nd and share all that they have discovered since that beautiful beginning, exploring the power of musical vulnerability through new original music, historic folk songs, and improvisation rooted in American, Scottish, and Swedish fiddle traditions.
