Opening Event - LIGHTFORCE- Abstract Oil Paintings by Belinda Herford

Belinda began painting in 2000 with no formal training, just a desire to create and communicate through her art. She studied technical oil painting manuals to understand the fundamentals and applications of paint, tools of the trade, the various media and effects created with their specific use.  

Over the years she has developed her own unique techniques through experimentation and exploration. A delicate burnishing of multiple layers of dark on light akin to sfumato, along with a special effect created by splashing turps onto the wet surface, allowing it to dry, then burnishing back to expose the layers beneath creating an intriguing depth.
