Nicola Arthen & Rodrigo Red Sandoval
Eavesdrop
A duo-exhibition of sculptural installations, textile-based infrastructures and spatial interventions.
In Eavesdrop, artists Nicola Arthen and Rodrigo Red Sandoval approach cloud technology not as something immaterial or floating, but as heavy, worn and shaping the physical world. Their collaboration builds on extended dialogue and a production period at TextielLab in Tilburg, where digital systems were translated into tactile, structured textiles.
The works examine how the internet reaches into private domestic space. Smart homes, sensors and connected devices silently learn from us, shaping how we move, rest and relate to others. In the exhibition, the virtual appears through material form: woven circuits, metallic structures, surfaces that respond to proximity. Instead of screens, the body becomes the primary interface.
Arthen and Red Sandoval explore the tension between public and private, digital and domestic, large scale networks and intimate gestures. Sculptural installations guide visitors through different perspectives and bodily postures. Standing, leaning or crouching inside the space reveals how technology choreographs daily life and how our bodies resist or adapt to its logic.
The exhibition asks how our physical presence can reclaim attention in environments shaped by algorithms. It insists on sculpture as a material language that demands slowness, care and awareness. Here, the body is not an afterthought, but the center.
Here, sculpture becomes an interface.
The body becomes the centre through which everything passes.

Nicola Arthen (DE) is an Amsterdam-based artist whose installations, video and sculptural works explore how objects from industrial and technological processes relate to human gestures and emotional movement. By isolating everyday artefacts and elevating them into protagonists, Arthen examines the poetics of labour and the traces of the body found within systems of standardisation. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the National Gallery in Prague, Pinakothek der Moderne (Munich), NEST (The Hague), Salón ACME (Mexico City), and P///AKT (Amsterdam). He holds an MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BFA from Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam.
Rodrigo Red Sandoval (MX) lives and works between Amsterdam and Mexico City. Working with sculpture and installation, he investigates the material and symbolic infrastructures that shape contemporary life. His practice often uses discarded industrial components, carving voids into material to reveal hidden histories. He is an alumnus of the Jan van Eyck Academie and holds an MFA from The Glasgow School of Art. His work has been exhibited in institutions including the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), Liverpool Biennial, Museo de Arte Dos de Mayo (Madrid), W139 (Amsterdam), and Jack Barrett Gallery (New York).
