Opening Day - Puro Conjunto: Border(less) Sound
Schedule
Thu, 11 Jun, 2026 at 10:00 am
UTC-05:00Location
111 W. Houston St., Ste. 100, 78205 | San Antonio, TX
The exhibit explores conjunto music as one of Texas’s most vital and enduring cultural expressions. Rooted in working-class life, conjunto tells a story of migration, encounter and exchange, resilience, and celebration.
The exhibit will highlight the people, places, and traditions at the heart of conjunto. Museum visitors will see conjunto pioneer Bruno Villarreal’s accordion, along with artifacts central to the genre — some of which will be on display for the first time — along with loans from the community and other organizations. Additionally, visitors are invited to get hands-on with a selection of musical instruments at an interactive station on the exhibit floor.
This exhibit is generously supported by the Summerlee Foundation.
The exhibit continues through May 30, 2027
Regular hours: Thursday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
