About this Event

Join the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture in celebrating the current exhibition, The First 50 Years: Highlights from the Civic Collection, 1973-2023, on view at ARTS at King Street Station.

celebrates the City of Seattle’s 1% for Public Art Program, one of the oldest in the United States. This exhibit showcases 150 portable works of art from the extensive civic collection. Seattle celebrates artists and integrates arts into our public spaces, providing opportunities for people to encounter art in parks, libraries, community centers, roadways, bridges, and other public venues, and enriching our communities.

Artists in the exhibition include renowned artists Jacob Lawrence, Sherry Markowitz, Marita Dingus, Susan Point, Akio Takamori, and Jeffry Mitchell. Newer artists’ works from the civic collection include Humaira Abid, Robert “Running Fisher” Upham, Natalie Ball, Jake Prendez and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas.

This evening's program includes special remarks from:

  • Vanessa Villalobos, Co-Chair Seattle Art Commission

Getting Here

ARTS at King Street Station gallery is open during the construction of Station Space on the 2nd floor of King Street Station. To access ARTS on the third floor, please enter King Street Station via the Amtrak entrance off King Street and take the elevator to the 3rd floor.

On First Thursdays, parking in Pioneer Square is FREE from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. Learn more about parking accessibility here.
