Fall Exhibition Celebration at the Mattatuck Museum: Robert Rauschenberg, Gerald Saladyga, Beau McCall, and Free to Be
WATERBURY, CT –The Mattatuck Museum invites the public to celebrate its dynamic fall season at a special Fall Exhibition Celebration on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event will feature $5 reduced admission all day, with special remarks at 1:00 PM from Chief Curator Keffie Feldman, Executive Director Bob Burns, and artists featured in the new exhibitions.
The celebration marks the opening of major exhibitions:
• Ruminations: Rauschenberg at 100 (Munger Gallery, September 28–December 7, 2025)
In honor of Robert Rauschenberg’s centennial, this exhibition presents a rare complete set of one of the artist’s most introspective series, paying tribute to the individuals who shaped his life and career.
• Gerald Saladyga (Noonan Gallery, October 5, 2025–January 11, 2026)
First prize winner of the Mattatuck Museum’s 2025 MIXMASTER competition, Saladyga presents monumental paintings influenced by Byzantine mosaics that reflect dystopian visions of political unrest, environmental catastrophe, and everyday life.
• Beau McCall: Buttons On! (Baker and Whittemore Galleries, October 12, 2025–January 4, 2026)
Known as “The Button Man,” Beau McCall receives his first retrospective, featuring nearly forty years of wearable and visual art made from clothing buttons and upcycled materials. The exhibition explores themes of pop culture and social justice. Guest curated by Souleo.
• Free to Be (Monteiro Family Community Gallery, October 5, 2025–January 4, 2026)
Presented in partnership with The Social Chase, Inc., a volunteer non-profit supporting young adults on the spectrum, this community exhibition highlights works submitted by artists through an open call. The Social Chase fosters inclusivity through its “Free to Be Me” programs, advocacy, and resource connections, creating a supportive and creative platform for self-expression.
"As we head into a new season, we're beyond excited to welcome everyone to the Mattatuck Museum. These extraordinary exhibitions are not just about the art; but about coming together to celebrate every voice and every creative journey,” said Bob Burns, Executive Director of the Mattatuck Museum. The Fall Exhibition Celebration is open to the public, and all are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of art, conversation, and community.
