Open Studio Series (Pilot): Chinaza Nkemka & Lawal Olanrewaju

Lianna Foundation presents the pilot of her Open Studio Series: an intimate, process-centred encounter with contemporary artists in Lagos.

Instead of the formality of a large exhibition, the Open Studio creates space for artists to work, think aloud, and engage visitors directly. It is light, informal, and social; a chance to see art in motion.

For this first edition, we’re joined by:

Chinaza Nkemka > A self-taught modernist visual artist whose mixed-media practice explores emotion, intuition, and connection through acrylic and experimental techniques.

Lawal Olanrewaju > A contemporary artist working with oil and acrylic, known for his ongoing Kegs series, which reimagines the ordinary gallon as a vessel of identity and social commentary.

Visitors are invited to drop in, observe, and converse with the artists. Activities through the day include a Pin-up Response Board (share your impressions visually or in words), informal Q&A sessions, and a curated talk with both artists.
