About this Event

This is not a lecture. Open Studio is a day inside our Financial District campus, where you will get your hands on the equipment, walk the stage and edit suites, and talk to the faculty and students who actually make the work.

The day

10:00 Check-in
10:30 Admissions presentation: our programs, our faculty, and what studying here actually looks like
11:00 Industry panel and audience Q and A
12:00 Hands-on workshops
1:15 Lunch and networking
2:00 Admissions Q and A and application support
3:00 Close

Hands-on workshops

Pick up the gear and try the work. Sessions run across writing, acting, shooting, scoring, and editing, taught by the faculty who teach them for real. No experience needed and nothing to prepare.

Industry panel

A moderated conversation with working filmmakers and music professionals on how they built their careers, followed by 15 minutes of audience questions. Confirmed so far:

Kat Night aka 009 Night, Composer, Producer and Immersive Audio Creator. Founder of F9 Studio, Night scores for film, television and games, works extensively in immersive Dolby Atmos, and is adjunct faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She joined the Recording Academy's 2026 New Member Class.

Wendy Morgan, Writer, Director and Creative Director. Wendy has directed music videos for Alicia Keys, Janelle Monáe and Gnarls Barkley, campaigns for Lanvin, Volkswagen and the Paris Opera Ballet, and episodes of Apple TV+'s Circuit Breakers. Her debut feature Sugar Daddy won Outstanding Directorial Achievement at the 2021 DGC Awards.

More to be announced.
