Come for a FREE Taster Session
You can come for a FREE taster session before joining to see if you like singing with us. No previous experience is required, you don’t need to audition, and you don't need to worry about the strength of your voice or what type of singer you are. If you enjoy singing - even if it's in the car or the shower - you are welcome to come along!
You can come to any open rehearsal for your free taster. You are welcome to contact us in advance if you have any questions, or to let us know you are coming via [email protected].
What can you expect at your taster session?
Our choir is relaxed, friendly and informal so you can expect a warm welcome on arrival. You'll be greeted by a member of the choir management team who will pair you up with someone
who can guide you through what we do at rehearsals. This is definitely the sort of choir where you can come on your own, as we always look after anyone walking through those doors for the first time!
The detail:
7.30- 7.45pm
Refreshments and notices - We spend the first 15 minutes of rehearsal having refreshments (usually lovely home-baked cake!), provided for free, and catching up on any announcements and notices.
7.45 - 9.00pm
Warm-ups - We'll then spend some time warming up. This usually involves a mixture of gentle physical movement and singing exercises. We also look at breathing and singing techniques.
Singing - Once we're warmed up, we focus on learning a new song or revisiting and practicing something we've worked on before. This includes learning different harmonies or working on parts of a song that need a little more attention.
Rehearsing for performance - if we have a performance coming up, we will practice the songs in running order to prepare us for singing live.
