Come grab your seat at the table for a fun, friendly gathering of tiles, strategy, and good company! Whether you’re a seasoned player or just recently caught the Mahjong bug, Open Play is your time to mix, mingle, and Mahj on with fellow enthusiasts. We will bring several sets of tiles, but if you have a setup you like, you are welcome to bring it. Don't forget your current NMJL card, and get ready to play! We welcome all skill levels, but please note: you must already know how to play American Mahjong. (No teaching new players this evening. If you're new to the game, check out our beginner class--Mahjong 101. We’d love to teach you!)
Directions: Park on the west side of the building between SEAS Church & Ridgecrest Church. Enter the building through the west facing double doors. We will be in the first room on the left.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drink. We will have a snack to share.
Can't be there right at 5:30? No problem! We'll get you seated at a table as soon as possible. Can't stay the whole time? That's ok, too. Drop in for an hour, or stay the whole time! Don't have a friend to join you? Perfect! Joining strangers at the mahjong table is a great way to make new mahjong friends.
To our Mahjong 101 students--this is the next step towards mastering mahjong--play, play, play. We will be there to help you, answer questions, & give you additional strategy tips!
Kindness is key around our tables, and good sportsmanship is always in style. Don’t have a NMJL card? No worries—we will have our students cards available to use, as well as some NMJL cards on hand to purchase.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we have an idea of how many to expect. (aka how much stuff do we need to bring). You are always welcome and encouraged to bring your own tile setups. We can’t wait to play with you!
