To initiate the Spooky Season, Carolina's Unknown will host a public paranormal investigation at the historic Forks Road battlefield, the site of one of the last battles of the Civil War, on October 3, 2025. This event requires prior RSVP. Participants will convene in the Cameron Art Museum parking lot at 6:00 PM for about two-hour investigation. Attendees are welcome to bring their own paranormal equipment. The investigation will explore reports of ghostly phenomena, including sounds of gunfire and cannons, as well as sightings of a ghostly grey mist in the form of a soldier. These paranormal occurrences have been reported in the vicinity of the battlefield, including a nearby park and the Pine Valley neighborhood, where streets are named after Civil War soldiers. The Battle of Forks Road was a pivotal engagement in February 1865, as Union forces launched a drive against Confederate forces from both sides of the Cape Fear River. Despite valiant efforts, the Confederate forces suffered significant casualties, ultimately leading to the withdrawal of their troops on February 20, 1865, and the capture of Wilmington by the Union Army. Further information on this battle can be found at https://americacomesalive.com/last-battles-of-the-civil-war-forks-road/. To RSVP, please send a private message on Facebook or email [email protected].
