The Springfield Art Museum invites you to celebrate the grand opening of The Art Study Club, the new administrative offices and educational space in the historic Wilhoit Building, during First Friday Art Walk on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. ________________________________________

• Still-Life sketching station (all ages) and take-home art project bags for children ages 3-12

What is The Art Study Club?
The Art Study Club is the Springfield Art Museum’s new home during its transformational renovation, located in the historic Wilhoit Plaza at 431 S. Jefferson. Named after the original group that founded the Museum in 1928, The Art Study Club serves as both a hub for art programming—offering hands-on classes, community events, and monthly First Friday Art Walk open houses—and the administrative headquarters for the Museum and the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates.
This return to the Wilhoit Building, where the Museum lived from 1929 to 1937, is a meaningful nod to its history and an exciting bridge to its future. “The Art Study Club is a callback to the years when we were operating out of temporary spaces to build a museum,” says Curator Sarah Buhr. “It reminds us of the women who dedicated so much time and effort towards the Museum’s success.”
The Art Study Club will be open each month during First Friday Art Walk, and during scheduled classes and programs. All other hours will be available by appointment only. While the Museum’s 10,000-piece collection is securely stored and temporarily unavailable for public viewing, select works and virtual tours of past exhibitions are accessible online, maintaining a continued connection to art and creativity.
Parking is available along Pershing Street, and Jefferson, in addition to a parking lot on the south side of the building.
