? This event is for those new to Dragon Boating and takes place every other Saturday. (Come down to the boathouse on the river next to W. Laurel Street Drawbridge).
What is Dragon Boating? Only the world’s fastest-growing team water sport! It's a great workout for the core, cardio, and all-around fitness.
Teams of ten to twenty paddlers (depending on boat size) take to the water, paddling in synchronization. A steersperson at the rear maneuvers the boat. Teamwork is key, as races are often won or lost by less than one second.
Want to give it a try? We’d love for you to join us! Most of our members had no paddling experience when they joined. We can teach you all you need to know and help you get into great shape. Come try it out and see for yourself why so many people have fallen in love with this sport. You’ll enjoy a great workout on Florida’s scenic waterways while meeting new people.
If you do not see a large number of attendees, don't worry. Our member's only practice is right before the new member boat and veterans join the practice to teach and encourage you on your first dragon boat experience!
Sometimes we grab lunch afterward at La Teresita Restaurant or other spots, you are welcome to join us.
What you will need: Please bring water or a sports drink, sunscreen and hat (for daytime practices), and wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting splashed (this is a water sport, after all). Also, a willingness to learn and have fun!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
TEMPORARY COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: These are subject to change frequently based on both the status of the pandemic and the latest regulations. Since the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing, safety precautions are regularly updated to limit the spread of the virus among our teammates. We will continue to follow the CDC and City of Tampa guidelines. All of our member support crew are vaccinated. Watch for any updates in the comments. So please keep checking back with us.
ADDITIONAL COVID SAFETY GUIDELINES:
All paddlers, drummers, and steers should:

2. Clean boats and shared equipment after use.
3. Be aware of signs of heat related illnesses in yourself and others.
4. Prevent heat illness by staying hydrated, wear lightweight clothes and take breaks as needed.
5. Must sign a waiver
? PLEASE BE SURE TO RSVP and refrain from showing up to the event, if you're not on the RSVP list. Not only is it unfair to members on the waiting list, but by RSVPing, we're able to determine whether to add or remove an event based on demand as all activities are evaluated on a weekly basis. When RSVP numbers are low, please contact the host(s) directly to confirm the event is still taking place.
