Join Reading's local urban sketching chapter (Urban Sketchers Reading/aka RdgSketchers) as they draw live on location.
Join Reading's local urban sketching chapter (Urban Sketchers Reading/aka RdgSketchers) as we draw live on location and share our drawings of the Open For Art Festival together. It's informal, friendly and a chance to draw in public, safe in the knowledge that there's another sketcher nearby whilst we draw the same location at the same time . We end each session with a throwdown where everyone displays what they drew and share tips.
What is urbansketching? It's a global community of sketchers who enjoys drawing live on location and 'seeing the world, one sketch at a time'. We aim to capture a sense of the location and time. We run a local chapter here in Reading. We meet at least once a month and it's a wonderful way to enjoy and look at our surroundings and meet other urban sketchers.
We welcome all - whether you are wanting to try out urbansketching for the first time or are a regular urbansketcher.
Bring something to draw on and something to sketch/paint with. Our advice is to bring art materials that are easy to use on the go. We welcome all - whether you are wanting to try out urbansketching for the first time or are a regular urbansketcher.

This workshop is aimed at adults but children 8 years+ are welcome to join with a participating adult. The sessions are informal, friendly and a chance to draw in public, safe in the knowledge that there's another sketcher nearby whilst we draw the same location at the same time . There won't be any formal teaching but often other urban sketchers do share tips with each other.
This is a drop in workshop - a ticket does not guarantee a space at the craft table and there maybe a short wait whilst . Please select your time slot and turn up anytime between your allotted time allocation.

Frequently asked questions:
We are a small team working behind the scenes answering your questions. If you email us via eventbrite or via our website we will answer as soon as we can.
Our workshops and events are subsidised and in most cases we are able to offer our workshops for a nominal fee. If you are able we have an option to donate. All donations help us to continue our work to make space for art for everyone every day.
Where are you based?
This workshop will take place outside. Meet at Jelly, first floor of Broad Street Mall and we will leave from there.
If I cannot make my paid workshop, can I transfer my ticket to another event or get a refund?
Our free community workshops and festival workshops are often made possible due to funding by the organisers. These workshops are popular and run at capacity. If you have selected a free ticket and are no longer able to attend please return your ticket so it is able to go to people on our waiting list. At busy times there may be a short wait at the workshop table and make sure you allow plenty of time to join us.
