Guidelines:Please e-mail [email protected] to reserve your spot ASAP. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Maximum six participants. Submissions of both fiction and nonfiction are welcome; please indicate which your piece is, as well as the genre and intended audience, in your RSVP e-mail.
After you have received confirmation that you're signed up, submit your work to [email protected]. Please submit no later than one week before the scheduled critique. Send up to eight pages of your manuscript as a Word document, double-spaced with one-inch margins, 12pt Times New Roman font. If you have questions for others in the group or would like critiques to focus on a particular aspect of the MS (eg character, dialogue, etc.), please indicate this in the body of your e-mail.
On the Friday before the critique, you should receive an e-mail with all of the manuscripts. Please read them thoroughly and prepare feedback (written is helpful, but verbal is also acceptable). Comments should be both honest and tactful; the goal is to help each other improve our work. What did the writer do well? What did you admire? What did you find compelling? What might enhance the piece? What constructive suggestions can you offer?
At the critique meeting, we will spend 25 minutes discussing each piece.
