Open Class to Living Philosophy
About this Event
Living Philosophy Course – Open Class
(Each of the 2 events is a standalone open class).
We are surrounded by ideas about happiness, success, justice, and the good life. But before accepting any of them, there is a simple question worth asking: Does it work?
For ancient traditions, philosophy wasn't a collection of abstract theories—it was a practice tested through daily experience. An idea had value only if it helped a person live more authentically and harmoniously.
The Living Philosophy Course brings together practical wisdom from East and West - from the Stoics, Plato, and Confucius to the teachings of ancient India, Tibet, and Buddhism. We don't study these traditions just to learn what people once believed, but to ask what they can teach us about our lives today:
- How can I know and understand myself more deeply?
- How can I direct my thoughts and emotions instead of being controlled by them?
- How can I stay steady when life becomes difficult?
- How can we live together despite our differences?
- What can the rise and decline of civilizations teach us about our own time?
- Can we create a better future?
What to Expect: In this free introductory session, you’ll get an introduction to New Acropolis and our approach to philosophy as a way of life. The second half of the evening features a guided group dialogue—a chance to move past small talk, connect with others, and explore meaningful questions together.
No prior background in philosophy is needed. Bring your questions, your experience, and a willingness to examine ideas for yourself.
Free to attend. Ancient wisdom. Practical application.
