Open Call: Exercising Modernity Academy 2026
Applications are now open for the Exercising Modernity Academy 2026, an interdisciplinary program dedicated to exploring the complex legacies of modernity through the lenses of art, architecture, design, history, and critical thought.
This year’s theme, “Central and Eastern Europe: (de)constructed. Displacements, Relations, Transformations,” invites researchers, curators, artists, cultural practitioners, and anyone interested in the intersections of culture, history, politics, and space to rethink the region beyond conventional narratives.
� The Academy will take place in person in Berlin in September 2026 and will be held entirely in English.
� Application deadline: 7 July 2026 (23:59 CEST)
� Submit your application to [email protected] with the subject line “Academy 2026.”
Participants selected for the Academy will also be eligible to apply for financial scholarships supporting cultural activities within the 2026 Exercising Modernity Program.
