Step into a world of contrast, depth, and intensity as the Symbios Quartet presents Onyx, a concert that explores the powerful interplay of texture and tension in music.
From the intricate counterpoint of J.S. Bach’s Fugue in G minor to the haunting lyricism of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, this program journeys through sound worlds that stretch, collide, and evolve. At its core lies the world premiere of Otto Gibb’s Saxophone Quartet, a bold new work that features all 4 saxophones exclusively used in each movement
The program also features the evocative colours of J.C. Maynard’s The Onyx and the rhythmic vitality of Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 5 (Portales de Madrugada), alongside a selection of works that showcase the saxophone quartet’s extraordinary range of expression.
Onyx invites audiences to experience music as a living texture, where lines intertwine, tension builds, and moments of stillness shimmer beneath the surface.
