Did humans pay attention to aesthetic values in the Stone Age? Do animals such as bowerbirds lead aesthetic lives? And how can
these questions be studied? This talk introduces the scholarly field
of evolutionary aesthetics and its recent development. No previous knowledge in aesthetics or evolutionary thinking is required.
Onerva Kiianlinna is Doctoral Researcher at University of Helsinki,
Resident Fellow at The Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research, and Vice President of Finnish Society for Aesthetics.
