Join us for an exciting new workshop in celebration of the world's most beloved poet!
More than any other poet, Mary Oliver’s work is woven into the fabric of our lives. Her poems walk alongside us as companions during important milestones and offer gentle guidance, inspiration, and moments of salvation. As Oliver explores the natural world, her work opens doorways to wonder and amazement and shows us, as she says in her poem Drifting, that “holiness is visible, entirely.” We lost a soul friend when Mary Oliver died on January 17th 2019, but the rich legacy of her poetry remains.
During our time together, we’ll view a presentation and hear the poet read her work. If you would like, bring one of your favorite Mary Oliver poems to share or tell a story about the poet's or poem’s influence on you.
There will be time to write using some of the poet's techniques. All are welcome and no writing experience is required.
Led by poet and educator, Lisa Breger.
This is a hybrid event and will take place in Edwards Hall and via Zoom. For those attending in person, light refreshments will follow the workshop.
