One Love, One Heart For Reconciliation is a unique attempt to address racial harmony by focusing on human commonalities. It takes place Friday, Oct. 18th, beginning at 3 p.m., at the Emanuel-McClain Women and Children's Health Center Auditorium, on the campus of "The Clyburn Center," 995 Clyburn Place in Aiken, South Carolina. This event is a call for adult and youth community leaders, elected officials, faith-based leaders, educators, and the general public. We will deal with a challenging topic in a nonthreatening manner that, we believe, will uniquely place Aiken and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) in an important position of leading transformational change. There will be a few short presentations and interactive discussions that will encourage us to embrace diversity and feel empowered to make long lasting change.
"During a time of such volatility and divisiveness in our country, this event will be the catalyst to focus on unification," says Umoja Village CEO/Cofounder Donna Moore Wesby. "One Love, One Heart For Reconciliation" will be a culmination of nearly a year of planning between Donna Moore Wesby, Grace Preston, and Jahleel Johnson of Umoja Village; Clemson University's Department of Historical Properties with Dr. Otis Pickett; The Converge with Racial Healing Practitioner Fellow Dr. Jennifer "Bingo" Gunter; the Southeast Center For Family Development with Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Miller; Historian Wayne O'Bryant, and former SRS executive Tom Thome.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration required.
