One Light Portraits with Kate Hailey - presented by Pro Photo Supply

During this in-person workshop at the Pro Photo Supply Event Center, Kate Hailey will show you how to get the most out of a single, small light source. You can create truly fantastic portraits by pairing a small studio-quality strobe light, like the Profoto A2 or A10, with modifiers and directionality. These techniques can also be applied to other genres, like food and product photography.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn, hands-on in this session, gaining experience and confidence in exploring off-camera studio lighting.

This session will highlight the latest flash and LED light options on the market today as well as some common light modifiers available.

What to Bring

• Your Camera
• A fully charged battery
• A memory card (with room to shoot on it)
• A lens in the 50-85mm focal length range is recommended, but most zooms can also be great.

Experience Level: Camera - Intermediate; Lighting - Beginner

Attendees should have an understanding of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and how to navigate their camera menus.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Kate Hailey is Portrait, Lifestyle, and Travel Photographer as well as a Photography Educator currently based in Seattle, WA.

Kate’s love of photography started at a very young age, with artistic and musical influences from both her father and mother, she was bound for creative pursuits. As a teenager, her first job was that of a photo assistant for a commercial photographer, where she began to learn the art of lighting.

Kate is most passionate about creating images for her clients that tell their stories. Kate also has a deep love of travel. Kate leads workshops, photo walks, and photo tours around the world.
