Save Our Wild Isles: Hungry for Change

An award-winning film from Nick Gates and Silverback Films that brought together experts from three of the UK’s largest conservation organisations. The National Trust, the RSPB and WWF reveal the impact of the food system on UK nature and crucially what could be done to reduce its impact. https://www.saveourwildisles.org.uk/business/food-and-farming

THE PANELISTS:

Nikki Dodd, Nick Gates, Patrick Holden, Sumita Hutchison, Guy Poultney, and Catherine Withers.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS:

Nikki Dodd, director of One Last Farm

Nikki Dodd is a documentary filmmaker and cinematographer with roots in both the US and UK. She’s worked on content for major streamers and broadcasters, including Netflix, PBS, and BBC. Her passion lies in stories that deepen our understanding of nature and people in today’s global, interconnected world.

Nick Gates, Silverback Films

Nick Gates is an award-winning author, filmmaker, public speaker, and naturalist. Passionate about landscapes shared between people and nature, he champions examples where these exist harmoniously. Nick also advocates for embedding nature in the national curriculum, so the next generation understands its vital role in daily life.

Patrick Holden, Sustainable Food Trust

Patrick is the Founder and CEO of the Sustainable Food Trust. He trained in Biodynamic farming and has farmed for over 50 years on a 300-acre mixed organic dairy holding, now the longest established organic dairy farm in Wales. He currently leads a task force on measuring land use sustainability for the Sustainable Markets Initiative.

Sumita Hutchison, Chair of the West of England Nature Partnership

Guy Poultney, Bristol City councillor

Catherine Withers, Yew Tree Farm

Catherine Withers is the farmer at Yew Tree Farm, where she has lived her entire life. She is dedicated to producing chemical-free, healthy local food while enhancing Bristol's biodiversity. A proud mother and grandmother, she is also a reluctant activist who couldn’t remain silent as unique and precious habitats came under threat.
