About this Event
Join us on Saturday, October 25th for our free community gallery, mosaics class, and movie screening.
One Hundred Flowers is an art show about contradiction and struggle, patterns and disruption. Inspired after reading “On Contradiction," Sacramento based artist Anna Reeves arranged a series of collages, sculptures, and texts reflecting on the philosophy of dialectics, exploring the contradictory forces within herself and her life.
Drop by our Tile Mosaics Class at 11am for a workshop led by Anna. Learn a new craft and take home a beautiful and unique piece of artwork you've arranged yourself! Bring your own ceramics, but tile scraps, ceramic bits, and other knick-knacks are included with your ticket!
Our free gallery exhibition and community education resources are on view all day. Join our 7pm screening of "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," an intrepid film documenting the defeat of an American coup by the people of Venezuela. Tickets on sale at door and online!
Arrangement - the artistic practice of reconceptualization - emerges across media from collage to floral design, and in our thoughts as we move though life.
Dialectics - the study of contradictions - is a powerful philosophy for studying the internal world of everyday life, used in revolutionary education around the world, though overlooked and misunderstood in the U.S.
“What is correct invariably develops in the course of struggle with what is wrong. The true, the good, and the beautiful always exist by contrast with the false, the evil, and the ugly, and grow in struggle with them.”
