"One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest", a tragic-comedy directed by Milos Forman, starring Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher, is about a free-spirited rogue who takes over the ward of a mental hospital by a felicitous combination of chutzpah and ingenuity. Based upon Ken Kesey’s celebrated novel the film was produced by Saul Zaentz and Michael Douglas. It is the second of three films to win all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Director, and Screenplay).
