FREE ADMISSION - OPEN TO THE PUBLICJadon Jorge is a 17 year old photographer based in Vancouver, BC.
He first became interested in photography after watching a video about street photography while staying with his grandparents in the Azores, Portugal. The idea of finding meaningful images in ordinary life immediately connected with him. One of the photographs featured in this exhibition, Azores, Portugal No. 4, was taken from the front yard of his grandparents’ home after he got home from buying three disposable cameras from whatever store had them.
His work is largely done in a documentary style, focused on observing real moments and environments as they exist. Rather than heavily constructing images, Jadon is interested in curiosity. The details, situations, and scenes that make someone stop and look twice. Whether humorous, confusing, beautiful, or difficult to place, his photographs aim to preserve the feeling of discovering something unexpected in ordinary life.
Influenced by photographers such as Cameron Belliveau, Jill Freedman, Steve McCurry, and Charalampos Kydonakis, his work combines documentary-style observation with a more personal and emotional perspective. He is also inspired by Dadaism, spirituality, and the idea that certain moments carry a kind of meaning or energy that cannot always be explained, only seen.
For Jorge, photography is about documenting, experiencing, and saving a moment as it exists, before it disappears forever.
