Meet the Artist: Cheryl M. English
Join us for this one-day special event and meet the talented artist of Black Cat Pottery based in Detroit, MI. A life-long creative and autodidact, Cheryl first began her ceramics studies through Grosse Pointe Community Education. She continued her studies at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center and Pewabic Pottery.
Cheryl’s work reflects her “other” passion: gardening, specifically with native plant species with an eye to establishing and expanding sustainable habitat. As an Advanced Master Gardener (certified through Wayne County Extension) and Master Composter (certified through Macomb County Extension), her abiding interest in things natural – and indigenous – is reflected in her whimsical creations.
Cheryl’s pottery has been featured in The Detroit News Homestyle Section as well as Smart Retailer and Handmade Business. Her garden has been featured in Michigan Gardener magazine, for which she has also been a contributing writer. She has taught at Anton Art Center in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, and Firebrick Gallery and Pottery Studio in Rochester, Michigan.
