About this Event
Welcome to One-Day Choir!
My name is Mckye and together with Good + Plenty Arts Collective we'd love you to join our choir for the night. We're going to be learning "Good Luck, Babe" by Chappell Roan arranged by Kenter Davies xo - it slaps, prepare yourself.
Be ready to laugh, cry (if you want), create and have all the fun. No audition, no judgement - we just want to sing together in harmony. You in?
Here's a link to the arrangement we'll be singing:
What's a One-Day Choir?
For one evening we get together and learn/sing a song in harmony! All are welcome whether you're a choir veteran or have never sung in a group before. This is our first ODC and we'll be meeting in the Event Space on the second floor at The Forks.
Order of Events:
- Warmups and singing games to get everyone a bit more comfy together and ready to sing
- Breaking down the song and parts section by section
- Going through the emotions and lyrics throughout the song
- Add some dynamics and "YEAH OK THAT SOUNDS AMAZING" moments
- Sing and record some video for us to have for ourselves and to share
Learning the Music
Sheet music and vocal recordings of each part will be sent in your confirmation email, to accommodate multiple ways of learning. (if you don't receive the link to a google folder get in touch and I'll re-send) These resources will be included in your order confirmation.
The intention is for us to come into the gathering having already familiarized ourselves with the parts, (you can choose any part you like)so that we can spend our time together really diving into the music rather than simply teaching parts one by one. I can't stress this enough, you don't have to memorize sh*t. You can learn everything on the night if you want. However, there're more space to work on dynamics and explore creatively when folks know their parts a bit before hand.
We leave this up to you :) We're here to support you, our intention is for this to be a fun and welcoming environment for all to explore their authentic voice.
NO ONE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS
This event is scale tickets by donation, with a “no one turned away for lack of funds” policy. It is of the utmost importance to us that these events are affordable and accessible - we never want money to be a barrier to making music together. If a ticket scale is financially prohibitive to you, feel free to donate outside of the scale at whatever amount is sustainable for you.
All are welcome in this community. All ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, classes, religions, abilities, national origins, languages, and musical experiences. All we ask is that you bring an open mind, a desire to connect, and a willingness to leave judgment of self & others at the door.
